Biography

South African singer André Huysamen made a triumphant return to the music industry in 2024 after a decade-long hiatus of releasing brand new music. Marking his 40th birthday, André released his latest single, Vat My Saam, a collaboration with Tiaan Grundling that soared to number 2 on the South African iTunes Chart. This achievement signals that his best days in music are still ahead.

André Huysamen's talent has resonated far beyond South Africa. His artistry earned him international recognition, including a nomination for the prestigious "Eurovision World Peace Song." At home, the ATKV honoured him for his significant contributions to Afrikaans Arts and Culture. He also had the privilege of performing for a former president at the iconic Union Buildings in Pretoria.

One of the crowning moments of his career took place at Johannesburg’s FNB Stadium, where he captivated a crowd of 69,760 during the MTN 8 Semi-Final clash between the Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates. Earlier in his career, André was nominated for "Newcomer of the Year" at the 2014 Bok Radio Music Awards, a milestone that solidified his place in the South African music scene.

Now back in the spotlight, André Huysamen’s journey is more than a comeback - it's a celebration of life. Through his music, artistry, and heartfelt connection with his audience, André continues to compose a narrative that is as inspiring as it is melodic.

In 2025, Huysamen unveiled his highly anticipated solo single Rooiwynlippe. With its catchy lyrics and irresistible beat, this earworm is set to become an instant hit and a firm fan favourite. And with even more fresh music on the horizon, it’s clear—the best is still to come.

On 26 September 2025, André released Ek Sal Wag Vir Jou ft. Richii, the debut single from his upcoming album. He is currently hard at work in the studio on this exciting project. Ek Sal Wag Vir Jou is set to define the tone of the entire project. “The producers and I aren’t playing it safe. We’re pushing boundaries, colouring outside the lines, and determined to shake up Afrikaans pop music. Our intentions are clear: we want to create something timeless. We’re not chasing number-one hits or commercial success; this project is about making a bold statement in its purest artistic form,” Huysamen said.
